Christmas Elves!

This week I am breaking out all things Christmas in the classroom. I have three weeks full of holiday fun with my kids and I couldn't be more excited!!

Our elf will be making an appearance on Monday! I bought the movie this year for them to watch-- I am thinking they will love it.

To kick off Christmas I am using my Christmas Elves and Christmas Kids units!

My kids LOVE the "button game" as they call it. The name got its title in the beginning of the year when we played with Pete the Cat and his buttons. Now it has stuck, even though this week we will be playing with elves!

I have also been stocking my store with differentiated versions of Write the Room. This years group loves to walk around and find the words! This week we are going to try some "magic e" words during write the room!

We also have a medial vowel sort. The kids will sort by medial vowel and then record the word on the correct line! I love that this center is self checking since they know the word must have an "e, a, or i" as the medial vowel.

We are also going to do a sight word scramble. I will tape these cards to a magnetic surface and have the students spell the words using magnetic letters. Then they will record on the paper.

Don't forget to stock up during the cyber Monday and Tuesday sale! I put my TPT store on sale for Sunday so you can be ready for Monday too!

Thanksgiving & A Giveaway!!

I had every intention of doing 5 for Friday this week. Then Friday came and I went to one of my kiddos soccer games. Seriously- little kids sports are the best! Good news is I came back and did not abandon my poor blog again!

The week before Thanksgiving my school has "Turkey Races," which can only be described as the best idea ever. It truly is one of my favorite things we do every year.

Frozen turkeys (dressed as turkeys with feather hats and all) come out on scooters and the kids push them using brroms. It is a relay race for k-5 students. Each teacher picks two students to participate. Let me tell you, if you think little kids sports is awesome watching the K babies push a turkey with a broom is the cutest thing ever!

Then the teachers race. My fiance (who teaches fifth grade) and I were on the same team. I'm not going to lie I was super excited about winning these hats!

My kiddos made these pilgrim people the week before break also. They are from Caitlin Clabby's Teachers Pay Teachers store. Definitely wish list these for next year! They are so cute in the hallway!

Also I had two students complete the United States puzzle!! I love listening to them talk about how to put it together-- such strategy!

Lastly, my blogging buddy Lori from The Kindergarten Pod is hosting a 100 follower giveaway! I was so honored that she asked me to participate in her celebration (especially since I was MIA from the blogging world for a while!)

Check out her 100 follower giveaway for your chance to win my Christmas Elves math and literacy packet!!

You could also win tons of other prizes from these amazing bloggers!!

Back-- Again!

It has been awhile since I have blogged. The last few months have been B.U.S.Y!!

I signed up for my masters for Ed Leadership in July. The first few months were an adjustment but just when school gets busy my masters seemed to kick into overdrive. So this was my set up for what felt like too many days.

I just registered for class number 4!! I was happy to see that we get breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!

We also purchased our dream house! It was a lot of coordinating with the sale of the old house and there were many days where it looked like it wasn't going to work out. But it did and we could not be happier.

Now we have rooms to decorate and lots of furniture to buy!! Much of my intersession break was spent painting and repurposing some old furniture for a few of the rooms!

I will be back at the end of the week (promise!!) to show you some exciting Thanksgiving things!

Five For Friday- A 4 Day Weekend

One of the perks and joys of teaching year-round is we get days off when other schools are in session. This Friday was one of those days. The cutie above is my nephew who just started Kindergarten! I met him for lunch and he was beyond excited. He definitely forgot I was coming so he had school lunch and some McDonald's too! When I walked up behind him at the table he said "YESSSS!" and escorted me over to the "guest table." MELT.MY.HEART!

When I am on intersession in October I will be joying him often!

My sister is in her last year of college. Her first year of college was my first year teaching. She help me set up my room and volunteered like crazy! She loves her cooperating teacher and that makes me sooooo happy! She knows kindergarten so well because when she is home I beg her to come into my room everyday!

She texted me on Thursday with a list of units she was going to teach for Fall. I have them all but they needed to be cute-sified!!! So I redid apples and I am slowly making my way through her list! I guess I owe her for her volunteering days!!

Enough said. Pete The Cat is a hit. EVERY.SINGLE.CHILD loves Pete! We are doing Pete for two weeks. Then the books will stay on my easel for the whole year and we will read them when we need a quick pick us up!

K teachers- Please remember my kids have been in school for 6 weeks now!
One of my K babies wrote this sentence in their August journal. When I see this, I know that having monthly journals and progress journals is totally worth it! The beginning of August was just a small picture and a letter or two. Then the last day I get this!!!

Think happy thoughts for my fiance and I! I will hopefully have good news at the beginning of October!! I really would tell you but I am worried I will jinx it!

Back To School Sale 2013

Krista from The Creative Chalkboard made this adorable banner!

The back to school sale is here and I could not be more excited!

I have spent a good part of the day working on some things that I wanted to finish for my store, leaving feedback so I can get my TPT credits and pushing the "move to cart" button. Can I just say that I love to clear my wishlist!?!

My fiance and I are selling our house and buying a new one in the next 30 ish days. I am suppose to take it easy this sale. But really-- I am not sure it is going to be possible.

I am sure your wishlists are overflowing but incase you needed just one more thing here are some of my latests and greatest.

The best deal in my store is a relatively new product I am offering called "BUY MY STORE!" This includes EVERYTHING -- even things I add in the future. This will usually be $200 but I have it discounted to $175 since it is so new. You can purchase during the back to school sale for $126. This may be the only sale I offer this product so snag it now!

Click on the links below to check out the product. My classes new favorite is the High Five Game!

A Peek Inside My Room 2013

Today I am back to share some pictures of my classroom. I must admit I was kicking myself today after school for not taking these pictures weeks ago! There is just something about clean desks and new crayons that screams "TAKE MY PICTURE." So please excuse my messy desks, unsharpened pencils and dull crayons!

This is the picture of my teacher desk. I put my filing cabinet next to my desk and covered it with wrapping paper from the Target dollar spot! On the front of the filing cabinet I used chevron print paper  to put the kid's Accelerated Reader numbers. On the wall behind my desk I have my birthday chart. The students pictures will be hung above their month on matching paper!

This is the first bulletin board you see when you walk into my classroom. The students pictures will go on this board.

My Word Wall is on the back wall above my computers. You can also see a sneak peak of my Math Station Tubs in the left corner.

I have 6 math stations that the students visit. There is a label on the bucket and on the shelf where the bucket goes. On the top of the shelf you can see the progress journals my students use throughout the year.

To motivate my students to do their best work at centers and stations I made a "Super Center Word' board. If a student gets to hang on the "sparkly clips" we all applaud them as they hang up their work!

This is my small group reading area. This is where I am for the majority of the day. I pull groups during reading and math and we usually hang out back here or at the carpet. I have labeled buckets on the top of the shelf for each of my groups. On wall I have my common core standards board. I made these board to hang Deanna's Common Core "I can" statements (if you do not have these-- you need them!)

These are my students iii, math, and literacy center rotations!

I am fortunate enough to have a easel (with lines!) a white board, and a Promethean board! We made the scientist during the first week of school!

Thanks for stopping by!!
